Ms. Rockett is a partner in the firm’s Philadelphia office. Her practice focuses primarily on the defense of pharmaceutical, medical device, and other companies in complex commercial litigation matters. She has represented AstraZeneca, Boehringer Ingelheim, Capsugel, Dentsply, Intuitive Surgical, Inc., Pfizer, Takeda, TASER International, Inc., and other large corporate clients in local, regional and national products liability litigation, as well as in government investigations and consumer fraud cases. Ms. Rockett was recently selected to become a member of The National Black Lawyers – Top 40 Under 40 for the state of Pennnsylvania.
Ms. Rockett plays an integral role in case strategy and fact development, and has managed active dockets involving single suits, collections of individual lawsuits, class actions, and Multidistrict Litigations. She also has experience organizing and supervising large-scale document production and review projects. Ms. Rockett has drafted successful dispositive motions and motions in limine arguing the admissibility of expert testimony and company documents. In addition, she has developed trial strategy, including preparing opening statements, closing arguments and cross and direct examinations. She also has significant experience preparing expert witnesses and company employees from various backgrounds and areas of expertise for depositions and trial. In addition, Ms. Rockett conducts litigation risk assessments, establishes and manages e-discovery processes, implements compliance programs, and conducts trainings for in-house counsel and staff.
In addition to her product liability litigation work, Ms. Rockett maintains an active pro bono practice that has included section 1983 prisoner civil rights litigation, divorce representation, and the successful obtainment of permanent residence status for immigrants through the Violence Against Women Act. She has also represented homeowners in premises liability matters, and successfully appealed the denial of an assistive technology petition for a disabled client. Ms. Rockett has been on the First Judicial District of Pennsylvania's Pro Bono Roll of Honor each year since 2009.
Ms. Rockett currently serves as Secretary of the Board of Directors of The Caring Center, a nationally accredited independent child care center and academic school for children six weeks to eight years old. She is also a member of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc., the Alliance of Women Entrepreneurs, and the Duke University and Phillips Academy Alumni Associations.
Prior to joining Goodell DeVries, Ms. Rockett was an attorney in Dechert LLP’s Mass Torts and Product Liability group. While in law school, Ms. Rockett served on the executive board of the Rutgers Law Journal, was a teaching assistant for Torts and Legal Research & Writing, and was also a Philadelphia Diversity Law Group Fellow. Before law school, Ms. Rockett worked for the Fair Labor Association, where she assisted in the administration of various compliance programs for member footwear and apparel manufacturers, such as Nike, adidas, New Era Cap Co., Patagonia, and Puma. She also conducted due diligence through partnerships with independent monitors and Non-Governmental Organizations, and participated in compliance audits and assessments in the United States and Asia.
